March 5, 2012 – At 8:00 A.M., Mayor Joaquin Chipeco of Calamba City surprised the woman government employees of the City Hall by giving each and everyone a single precious red rose to celebrate the kick-off of the “International Women’s Month” of March. Everyone from the rank and files up to the Mayor’s wife Mayora Nini Chipeco received a flower.
The theme is “Women weathering Climate Change: Governance and Accountability, Everyone’s Responsibility”. The invocation came from Atty. Manuel P. Ladrido before the usual National Anthem every Monday. The pledge of allegiance was read by Mr. Ernesto S. Aquino, Jr. with the welcome remarks from the Mayor of Calamba City Mayor Joaquin Chipeco Jr.
The event was so dramatic and special to women in any walk of life. The women were surprised when the Brass band with Mr. Orly San Diego and the Department Heads seranaded them with a song.
March is celebrated by the International community to fight violence against women, for everyone to become aware about gender equality. Women today can do a lot of things and are recognized already as our leaders. The City of Calamba has a whole month of events for the community up to March 30, 2012.
