EDSA bus explosion and the wave of crimes

Not another crime. There seems to be a wave of crimes lately with this latest bus explosion, “the latest carnapping incidents made even more gruesome by the brutal murder of the victims Emerson Lozano and his driver as well as car dealer Venson Evangelista. Once again the Philippines is in the world spotlight with a negative image: that of a crime-ridden country.

Crime does not pay should be the message that these criminals should be getting. Nothing deters them from committing these outrageous crimes. The Philippine National Police (PNP) should be at the forefront, to act as deterrents. The PNP needs a lot of help to be able to cope with these wave of crimes.

The President was quick this time, responding to the bombing incident with this statement that he vowed to go after the people behind this outrageous crimes.

Uulitin ko lang po, at ito nga ho ay gusto kong ipahatid sa ating mga kababayan: Talaga pong hindi titigil ang inyong pamahalaan na mahanap itong mga taong gumawa ng karumal-dumal na krimen na ito, na talaga naman pong hindi nakatutok sa isang tao o isang grupo, eh, talagang pananakot lang po sa buong sambayanan. Hindi natin pababayaan na magpatuloy ito, ang ganitong sitwasyon na may agam-agam ang atin pong mga kababayan sa Pilipinas.
